How to dress for a long flight? Check out the hints of a flight attendant
It takes approx. 3 minutes to read this article

A long flight can be very tiring. So it’s worth taking care of the right clothing. What to wear? We check the advice of a flight attendant.

A very long flight is unlikely to be the most pleasant. Being in a sitting or semi-reclining position for a long time is quite tiring. Certainly wearing tight clothes for such a trip, which additionally restrict movement, will not be a good idea. So it’s worth knowing what the flight attendant advises to make the flight as comfortable as possible.

Opt for loose clothing

The stewardess advises to wear loose clothes to the plane, which do not squeeze and ensure proper blood circulation. This is very important, as it helps avoid thrombosis. Some people may struggle with bloating during the flight, so the ideal solution is to wear pants with an elastic waistband. For ladies, leggings or sweatpants and a T-shirt are recommended. It’s also a good idea to have some kind of sweatshirt with you, in case you get chilly. Plus socks made of natural materials (so that the foot does not sweat) and comfortable shoes, preferably athletic.

Ladies, however, who would like to look nice and more elegant, can wear a long, comfortable dress sewn from some pleasant to the touch, breathable material. Fabric pants with elastic band and a loose blouse or sweater will also work.

As you know – many things can happen during the trip. That’s why the stewardess recommends wearing clothes with long sleeves and legs. This will prove useful, for example, when you need to use special emergency slides during disembarkation. The uncovered body is then easy to injure.

Many people complain that they freeze when flying. That’s why it’s a good idea to dress in layers so that you can take off or put on another piece of clothing if necessary.

Don’t wear this for sure

For a long flight, high-heeled shoes will definitely not work. They are not only not very comfortable, but also impractical. Already getting on the plane can be quite difficult, especially if metal stairs are used. On top of that, feet can swell – and there’s even a high risk of that happening. And, of course, it’s easy to get injured, and traveling with a sprained ankle is unlikely to be a good thing. On top of that, expect that you may be asked to remove your footwear when passing through the gates, and heeled sandals, for example, are generally fastened with several straps, which could be problematic.

Leather clothes are also not recommended, as they are tight, can restrict movement and on top of that impede circulation.

It is also worth knowing that with some airlines we may not be allowed on board for being too skimpy in our attire. It is worth reading the requirements of a particular airline before traveling, as some have guidelines on what you can and cannot wear. Even if there are no such guidelines, you should always take into account other travelers who may, for example, not want to see our undressed body.
