It is loved by tourists from all over the world. The landscape of the Serra da Estrela park or the paradisiacal beaches of the Algarve coast are places that simply must be visited. For once in your life, take a trip to Portugal!

Portugal lies on the western coast of the Iberian Peninsula, at the very edge of Europe. Its geographical location has had a huge impact on the history and development of this country. The main occupation of the Portuguese at that time was deep-sea voyaging. They are responsible for a significant part of land discoveries.

Throughout the centuries, Portugal’s amazing port cities have developed to this day to impress with their timeless beauty. Thanks to them, among other things, this country is an interesting place to visit. The most characteristic are picturesque Porto, atmospheric Lisbon, magical Sintra and historic Faro.

  • Porto was founded in the fifth century, and its original name – Porto Cale – was the inspiration for the name of the whole country. The city is located at the mouth of the Duero River to the Atlantic. Porto owes its fame to the product, which charmed the English merchants. Currently, this city can be described as the second largest metropolis in Portugal. There are many attractions, especially breathtaking architecture, led by the Cais da Riberia district. Buildings richly decorated with azulejos, or blue tiles, is a tourist must-see. In Porto, of course, there is no shortage of taverns hidden in the narrow cobbled streets, which hide the wine type port.
  • About a trip to Lisbon every art lover dreams. It is here that there are such monuments as the UNESCO sites, the Arc de Triomphe or the Jeronimite Monastery, which contains the tomb of the legendary explorer Vasco da Gama . Lisbon has a unique atmosphere, knows this everyone who had the opportunity to visit this unique city. You can find here a beautiful little cafes with the best coffee. In Lisbon is worth a trip to the nearby city of Sintra. Located in the neighborhood of wooded hills city with beautiful palaces and majestic castles creates a truly fabulous scenery. One of the most famous places is Palacio da Pena, which was built in the 19th century for Ferdinand II. In this palace the royal family rested during the summer. The enormity of the castle buildings allows you to learn about Portuguese history from a completely different perspective. It is good to visit them on your own to savor the beauty of the place.
  • Faro is the most unspoiled city on the list. Often overlooked in tourist guides. In this place you can find beautiful beaches, picturesque caves and impressive cliffs. Winding streets invite you to stroll, preferably with stops in charming tavernas.
  • The Algarve region belongs to the coastal areas of southern Portugal. Here you can find the most famous surfing beaches. The landscape is extremely varied – from sandy beaches to steep cliffs. It is worthwhile to visit coves surrounded by rocks and look into the caves and grottoes, which are located near Lagos. The eastern part of the Algarve coast impresses with its vast beaches, from which you can admire the numerous islets.
